The main purpose of the Initiative is to promote cultural, educational and sports exchange between local residents and visiting athletes and foreigners

TOKYO, Japan, November 17, 2017/APO Group/ --

The Embassy signed a partnership memorandum of understanding with Meguro City under the Host Town Program on 7th November, 2017. The Government of Japan is running Host Town Initiative in preparation for 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games by supporting local governments to host and welcome athletes and staff from abroad. The main purpose of the Initiative is to promote cultural, educational and sports exchange between local residents and visiting athletes and foreigners.

The memorandum of understanding establishes a framework for friendship and cultural exchange between citizens of Kenya and Meguro City. It seeks to facilitate cultural exchange between Kenyan citizens and students from Meguro City Schools, athletic friendship between Kenyan Olympians and Paralympians and students from Meguro City schools before, during and after Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and participation by Kenyan citizens in cultural events organized by Meguro city. The exchanges and friendship realized by the citizens before, during and after Tokyo 2020 Games will hopefully be maintained and strengthened for posterity.
