UN Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide Press Conference

The United Nations Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide is mandated to strengthen the role of the UN in preventing genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity

The United Nations Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide, Mr. Adama Dieng, concludes his five day visit to South Sudan on Friday 11 November. 

The goal of Mr. Dieng’s visit to South Sudan was to better understand the landscape of ethnically-fuelled violence and provide assistance as requested. The Special Advisor met with government representatives, UNMISS senior leadership, civil society groups and community members in the Protection of Civilians sites.
