Signing of the Japan-Kenya Investment Agreement

On August 28, 2016, Agreement between the Government of Japan and the Government of the Republic of Kenya for the Promotion and Protection of Investment is scheduled to be signed by Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, and Mr. Henry K. Rotich, Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury of the Republic of Kenya, in Nairobi, Kenya

The agreement is to be signed after five rounds of negotiations

TOKYO, Japan, August 24, 2016/APO/ --

1. On August 28, 2016, Agreement between the Government of Japan and the Government of the Republic of Kenya for the Promotion and Protection of Investment is scheduled to be signed by Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, and Mr. Henry K. Rotich, Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury of the Republic of Kenya, in Nairobi, Kenya, where the Sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI) will be held.

2. The agreement is to be signed after five rounds of negotiations. In June, 2013, the launch of a preparatory meeting for the initiation of negotiations on the bilateral investment agreement was confirmed at the meeting between Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, of Japan and Hon. William Arap Ruto, Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, who was visiting Japan to attend the Fifth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD V).
