Regional sharefair on gender equality in the extractive industries

WHAT:                 REGIONAL SHAREFAIR ON GENDER EQUALITY IN THE EXTRACTIVE INDUSTRIES 

BACKGROUND: Extraction of oil, gas and minerals in Africa is driving immense economic and social      development. At a time when several African countries are developing their extractives policies, UN Women in collaboration with its key partners will host a Regional Sharefair on gender equality in the extractive industries to discuss and share gender issues in management of natural resource development. 
WHEN: 13th -15th October 2015 
•    Day 1 (13th October): Voices of women in and affected by the Extractive Industries 
•    Day 2 (14th October): Hon. Najib Balala, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Mining, Kenya Officially opens the Regional Sharefair and participates in high level policy discussions for engendering the Extractive Sector 
•    Day 3 (15th October):  Outcome of Sharefair and way forward for gender equality in the oil, gas and mining sector. 
WHERE: United Nations Complex, Gigiri, Nairobi-Kenya.

Media are invited to this Sharefair, the first of its kind. Please bring with your media accreditation cards as well as you national identification cards/passports to facilitate access to the UN Compound.
