The Secretary-General further commended President Mahama for accepting to play a leading role as an advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana. The two leaders discussed the upcoming presidential elections scheduled to take place in December 2016. The Secretary-General underscored the importance of ensuring a conducive environment for peaceful and credible elections. In this regard, he encouraged ongoing efforts for the signing of a code of conduct by all political actors.

The Secretary-General further commended President Mahama for accepting to play a leading role as an advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and encouraged him to mobilize action amongst fellow Heads of State towards the effective implementation of the SDGs.
