Minister of Foreign Affairs Børge Brende visited Egypt November 26-27

The meeting centered on pressing regional issues including Libya, Syria, Gaza and the recent Egyptian reforms

Together, they participated in the launch of a cooperation agreement between Norway, Egypt and the ILO aimed at increasing youth employment

Minister of Foreign Affairs Børge Brende had meetings in Cairo November 26 – 27 to discuss the situation in the Middle East and North Africa and developments in Egypt.

Foreign Minister Brende met with H. E. President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi on November 26. The meeting centered on pressing regional issues including Libya, Syria, Gaza and the recent Egyptian reforms. Regional affairs including Libya, Syria and Yemen as well as migration were also on the agenda in a bilateral consultation with Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry. Minister Brende met with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit to discuss the situation in the region as well as Israel and Palestine. 

Minister Brende also met with H. E. Sahar Nasr, Minister of International Development. Together, they participated in the launch of a cooperation agreement between Norway, Egypt and the ILO aimed at increasing youth employment.
