MFA Press Statement: Visit by Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Maliki Osman to Botswana and Ethiopia, 5 to 10 Sept 2016

SMS Maliki’s visit is part of a series of ministerial visits from Singapore to Sub-Saharan Africa aimed at signalling our growing political and economic relations with the region

Ethiopia is among the fastest growing economies in the world

SINGAPORE, Singapore, September 6, 2016/APO/ --

Senior Minister of State (SMS), Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Maliki Osman will visit the Republic of Botswana and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia from 5 to 10 September 2016.  SMS Maliki will meet political and business leaders in both countries to discuss bilateral cooperation and economic opportunities. 

SMS Maliki’s visit is part of a series of ministerial visits from Singapore to Sub-Saharan Africa aimed at signalling our growing political and economic relations with the region. 

Singapore and Botswana have enjoyed long-standing cooperation in public service capacity building.  The Singapore Civil Service College (International) (CSCI) helped to establish the Botswana Public Service College (BPSC).  SMS Maliki will visit the BPSC to interact with officials during a training session conducted by CSCI.  

Ethiopia is among the fastest growing economies in the world.  SMS Maliki will deliver the opening remarks at a business forum organised by the Singapore Business Federation. 

SMS Maliki will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
