Medic West Africa conference deliberates on best healthcare practices in the region

Quality of patient care and effective communication key topics at Quality Conference

LAGOS, Nigeria, October 13, 2015/APO (African Press Organization)/ --

Best healthcare practices now entail that doctors have a special focus in patient care. Experts believe that patients, in partnership with their healthcare provider, should have a say in the way their care is administered and managed. This partnership will improve health outcomes and facilitate the treatment process in West Africa.

Dr Sylva Cole, Partner and Anaesthetist, Paelon Memorial Clinic (PMC), Lagos, Nigeria, will speak at the Quality Management conference at Medic West Africa Exhibition and Congress (MWA), organised by Informa Life Sciences Exhibitions, taking place on 14-16 October 2015 at the Eko International Convention & Exhibition Center, Lagos, Nigeria. The event supports strong healthcare education programme in West Africa by providing CPD accredited masterclasses across all medical specialities.

According to Dr Cole, “In PMC, we take the time to listen, educate and inform our patients about every step of their treatment process.  We honor our patient’s wishes and we even encourage them to request for a second opinion if they need the reassurance. In patient care, we put protocols in place for patients to carefully select their practitioner, and discuss and make suggestions regarding their treatment process and terms of care.”

This year’s Medic West Africa event will feature free-to-attend industry masterclasses conducted by the industry's leading companies such as Sebia, ISN Products Limited, Nigerian Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons (NISOLS), GE, and Horiba.

More than 350 of the industry's leading local and international manufacturers and distributors will showcase the latest innovative healthcare products and services to more than 4,000 attendees during the three-day exhibition. Medic West Africa also comprises of the largest IVD & medical laboratory event in West Africa, MEDLAB. Both Medic West Afirca and MEDLAB West Africa are free-to-attend for healthcare trade professionals.
