AMPION Venture Bus East Africa

AMPION is the one of the only non-governmental organizations dedicated to growing entrepreneurship and technological innovation across Africa. Our vision is to be a catalyst for private sector driven economic growth that promotes sustainable economic and social impact throughout the continent.

AMPION provides an opportunity for East African entrepreneurs to connect with other entrepreneurs from around the world on the East African AMPION Venture Bus tour. The East African AMPION Venture Bus tour will start on the 13th of October in Dar es Salaam and will travel through Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda, finally finishing in Rwanda where we visit the Transform Africa Summit 2015 in Kigali on the 19th of October. The entrepreneurs on the East African AMPION Venture Bus tour will focus on developing e- Health solutions. As an incubator on wheels, the tour brings together promising entrepreneurs, talented mentors, and expert investors that are dedicated to resolving social issues for the betterment of health related challenges across East Africa and around the world. During the 7-day bus tour, 40 participants will have the opportunity to collaborate and learn from successful global and local business practices.

AMPION aims to empower East African entrepreneurs to fully take part in equitable and sustainable development through social entrepreneurship education. In order to accomplish this goal, we have put together a strong team that represents AMPION's experience in creating 50 socially conscious startups throughout 14 African countries so far. AMPION is teaming up with local NGOs and technology hubs on the ground in East Africa who can contribute their local knowledge. Among many others, AMPION partners with the BUNI Hub, iHub, RanLab and kLab to specifically help tailor entrepreneurship curricula to address the issues local entrepreneurs face when creating startups. Each day of the tour, the Venture Bus stops at another hub on the way for collaborative workshops. This gives the entrepreneurs the most possible exposure to the local entrepreneurship community and thereby maximizes their insights. Additionally, experienced e-Health initiatives and startups such as M-birth, Toto Health and MobiDawa will share their experiences in inspirational talks. The mid-term pitches of this years’ East African AMPION Venture Bus tour will be held at iHub on the 15th of October in Nairobi. The semi-final pitches will be held on the 18th of October in Kigali.

The winner of this years’ East African AMPION Venture Bus tour will be announced at the Transform Africa Summit in Kigali on the 19th of October.
