German Ambassador Invites Chief Engineer in CoW Water Department to Germany

The programme includes talks on the political framework and aims of Agenda 2030 and/or technology partnerships

The embassy would like to contribute to solving the current water crisis especially in Windhoek

WINDHOEK, Namibia, July 20, 2016/APO/ --

Mr. Johan de Vos, Chief Engineer in the Department of Infrastructure, Water and Technical Services of the City of Windhoek, has been invited to participate in a group visit to Germany themed “Green-Tech (made) in Germany” from 4 till 10 September, 2016, as part of the Visitors Programme of the German Federal Government.  

Together with journalists, representatives of ministries, municipal and regional authorities as well as think tanks from around the world, Mr. de Vos will have the opportunity to familiarise himself with research and the opportunities offered by green cutting-edge technology for the spheres of resource and water management and examples of best practice in Germany. The programme includes talks on the political framework and aims of Agenda 2030 and/or technology partnerships (e.g. German Water Partnership, GermanRETech Partnership at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, Federal Environment Agency, Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources), visits of research institutes (e.g. Helmholtz Institute Freiburg for Resource Technology, ECF Farmsystems GmbH) and meetings with representatives of public utilities and waste management industry including visits to businesses (e.g. German Association of Energy and Water Industries, VKU (Association of Local Utilities), Berliner Wasserbetriebe, ALBA Berlin GmbH, Berliner Stadtreinigungsbetriebe, Ruhleben waste heating plant, Veolia Water Technologies Deutschland GmbH in Leipzig).  

Thus the embassy would like to contribute to solving the current water crisis especially in Windhoek and continues a long-standing cooperation with Namibia in the water sector.
