Foreign Office Statement on Attack in Somalia

Minister for the Middle East and Africa, Tobias Ellwood, Condemns Attack in Mogadishu and Offers his Condolences to Families of Victims

Minister Ellwood said:

"I wholly condemn the Al Shabaab attack in Mogadishu. I send my deepest sympathies to the families of the victims and pay tribute to all those from the Somali security forces, AMISOM and the UN who daily put their lives at risk protecting civilians. This attack is yet another reminder of the importance of our work in confronting extremism. The UK remains as determined as ever to support efforts towards building a more stable, secure and prosperous Somalia."
