Attendance by Foreign Minister Kishida at the Sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development and His Visit to the Republic of Kenya

Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs, will visit the Republic of Kenya from August 25 to 29 to attend the Sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI)

TOKYO, Japan, August 23, 2016/APO/ --

1. Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs, will visit the Republic of Kenya from August 25 to 29 to attend the Sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI), if circumstances permit. Mr. Shunsuke Takei, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, will accompany him from August 25 to 28, if circumstances permit.

2. The upcoming TICAD will mark historical milestone as the first TICAD to be held in Africa. From Japan, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and many participants from a wide range of sectors, including businesses, will visit Kenya to convey the message that Japan will strongly support Africa’s development through public-private partnership.

3. Foreign Minister Kishida will also take this opportunity to conduct bilateral Foreign Ministers meetings and other meetings.
